Your correspondent scooted into DUMBO and around Downtown Brooklyn for “Gowanus Art Walk on Atlantic Ave.” He recorded views of “Joan Witek Paintings from the 1980s” at MINUS SPACE, an exposure of a series of obsessive paintings unseen for nearly forty years. Then on to METAPHORE Art Projects and a two person show of Rene Lynch and Julian Jackson. This duo founded the gallery in this location on Atlantic Avenue in 2003 and operated it for a decade, becoming the hub of a scene that was dubbed by Stephen Maine as “Smith-Lantic”. Trying to beat the clock we head east on the Avenue and wrap up with a visit to 490 Atlantic and a group show “DANDELIONS” which features works by Tom Lawson, Carolanna Parlato, Cecilia Whittaker-Doe and Rachel Youens.
